NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to visit Ankara for official talks
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte is set to visit Ankara for official meetings, marking his first trip to Türkiye’s capital since assuming office.
According to a written statement from NATO, Rutte’s visit will include meetings with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Defense Minister Yaşar Güler. The discussions are expected to focus on NATO-Türkiye relations, regional security, and defense cooperation.
During his trip, Rutte will also meet with representatives from Türkiye’s defense industry and tour the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) facilities. Additionally, he is scheduled to pay his respects at Anitkabir, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Türkiye.
Rutte’s visit underscores NATO’s continued engagement with Türkiye, a key member of the alliance, amid a dynamic regional security landscape.
