Participating in a lively debate on TGRT News, TGRT EU, and TGRT FM, Murat Kurum, the People’s Alliance candidate for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, answered a variety of questions on Thursday. The “Special Agenda” program, which was hosted by Gülden Kalecik Demirtaş, included questions from editors-in-chief of Türkiye Gazetesi, Dr. İsmail Kapan, publishing coordinator Yücel Koç, and columnist Cem Küçük.

Most Recent Survey Findings

“The excitement in the field is increasing day by day,” Kurum said with a genuine sense of confidence. Now it’s just a rush of excitement.” He continued, highlighting the disparity between perceived and real support, saying, “They are still publishing these surveys in an attempt to distort views. The field is where the actual poll is.

Impending Istanbul Earthquake
Taking a practical approach to the imminent seismic danger in Istanbul, Kurum said, “We all know that we lost 133 thousand lives to the disaster of the century.” Precautions against earthquakes are necessary.” He said, “We need to transform our residences, industrial facilities, schools, and hospitals,” emphasizing the necessity for preventative actions.

Schemes for Housing Development

Addressing skepticism on the viability of rapid development, Kurum referenced effective examples, saying, “Izmir has been run by the CHP government for many years. Additionally, they said, “You can’t do this in a year.” We made improvements since Bayraklı’s ground was too soft. Underscoring the possibility of quick action, he said, “If you want, you can do it.”

Transportation Infrastructure and Traffic Management
Kurum presented his aspirational transportation ideas, which included the expansion of metro lines and the reduction of traffic. “First, we’re going to extend our lines to 650 km and collaborate with them,” he announced. Istanbul will not have to bear the weight of this line.”

During his interview on TGRT News, Murat Kurum shared his approaches to governance and his outlook for Istanbul’s future. Kurum indicated that he is prepared to lead the city forward by addressing urgent problems and outlining specific objectives. Voters looking for good leadership and workable answers find resonance in his remarks as the mayoral elections draw near.
