Mining collapse in Türkiye’s Elazig, injures 2 mine workers
Chrome mine collapse in Türkiye’s Elazig province leads to injuries for two miners, with local authorities, emergency teams coordinating rescue efforts
A mine in the Palu district of Türkiye’s Elazig collapsed Monday, injuring two workers, according to local reports.
The incident occurred in the Dereboyu area, inside a chrome mine operated by a private company.
Emergency response teams, including paramedics and the gendarmerie, were dispatched to the site immediately after the collapse was reported.
The injured workers, identified as Mehmet Salih O. and Abdullah D., were rescued from the rubble by fellow mine workers.
First aid was administered on the spot before the victims were taken to Firat University Hospital for further medical care.
Alacakaya Mayor Basaran Yasli visited the mine to assess the situation and gather information about the ongoing rescue operations.
The cause of the collapse is currently unknown, however, an investigation has been launched to determine the exact details of the incident.
