Main opposition leader Ozel pressures ruling AK Party on minimum wage
The main opposition, Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Ozgur Ozel recently visited earthquake survivors at Renaissance Container City in the Yesilyurt district of Malatya, where he engaged with families, including disabled children, and distributed toys. During his visit, Ozel raised concerns about the difficult living conditions in the earthquake-stricken region, particularly in containers. He criticized the tendency for such areas to only be prioritized in political agendas during election periods, after which they are often neglected. Ozel pledged to continue advocating for awareness and support for these ongoing issues.
‘People cannot make a living’
Ozel also visited the CHP’s Malatya Provincial Presidency, where he spoke at a public gathering. Ozel here slammed the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) over the minimum wage.
He advocated for enhancements in retirement pensions and for an increase in the minimum wage by July, reaffirming the party’s commitment to advocating for workers’ rights and addressing their concerns.
Underlining that people complaining that they cannot make a living, “There is a real people’s party that will voice your concerns, a political party that really seeks the rights of working people. We will continue from now on. Our job is to listen to the voice of the street,” Ozel said.
Ozel also reiterated that the CHP’s alliance is with the people of Türkiye, emphasizing a broader “Türkiye Alliance” that united diverse groups under the national flag.
