The main opposition leader Ozel Ozel continues to put the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) in a difficult position with his rallies, calling for an increase in the minimum wage at his rallies.

Republican People’s Party (CHP), the main opposition in Türkiye, leader Ozgur Ozel stated: “We demand a minimum wage increase at least equal to inflation and a minimum wage of at least ₺25,000 ($764.25), regardless of inflation figures.”

‘We can’t make ends meet’

Participating in the “Labor Rally” organized by CHP Kocaeli Provincial Presidency in Gebze under the slogan “We Can’t Make Ends Meet,” Ozel explained that since the local elections, they have been trying to amplify the voices of those who could not make themselves heard through various rallies, including those for education, retirees, tea and wheat.

Ozel expressed they will not stop until the pension reaches the minimum wage and, under a CHP government, every retiree receives 1.5 times the minimum wage.

Emphasizing the need to increase the minimum wage, Ozel stated: “We demand a minimum wage increase at least equal to inflation and a minimum wage of at least ₺25,000 ($764.25), regardless of inflation figures.”

Justice in taxes

“You pay 90% of the taxes in this country. 68% is indirect tax. Whether you are a factory owner or a security guard in the factory, you pay the same tax on electricity, water, phone, milk and pasta. Regardless of how rich or poor you are, you pay the same tax,” Ozel stressed the need for tax justice.
