Main Opposition CHP Leader Ozgur Ozel’s comments referring to former Mayor of Hatay, Lutfu Savas as a “pawn in a dirty game” have prompted legal action. Savas has filed a criminal complaint against Ozel following these remarks.

Ozgur Ozel’s comments spark legal action

In a recent television program, Ozgur Ozel criticized the former Mayor of Hatay Metropolitan Municipality, Lutfu Savas, stating: “All conspirators come forward wearing the mask of progressiveness. Some are continuing this conspiracy to tarnish our congress. These are completely baseless claims, with no consistency, no truth, and no seriousness.”

In response to Ozel’s statements, Lutfu Savas decided to take legal action against him.

‘He defamed my honor’

Savas, through his lawyer, filed a complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on February 21, 2025.

In the complaint, Savas highlighted Ozel’s statement that “Lutfu Savas is just a pawn used in this dirty game,” arguing that such comments severely damaged his honor, dignity, and reputation.

As a result, Savas has officially filed a criminal complaint against Ozel for the crime of “insult.”
