Magnitude 5.0 earthquake strikes Elazig, Türkiye
A 5.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Elazig region of eastern Türkiye at 5:04 p.m. local time on Tuesday, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
“An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 occurred at a depth of 16.22 kilometers in Elazig,” AFAD said in a statement. Developments regarding the earthquake, which was also felt in neighboring provinces, are not yet clear.
According to the information provided by Kandilli Observatory, the earthquake in Elazig occurred at 5:03:59 p.m. Türkiye time with a magnitude of 5.1 and a depth of 5 kilometers.
Elazig, located in a seismically active zone of Türkiye, has experienced several earthquakes in the past.
