Taksim, Sishane metro stations in Istanbul to close on April 19 due to security reasons

Several metro and funicular stations in Istanbul will be temporarily closed starting Saturday afternoon until further notice, according to a decision by the Istanbul Governor’s Office.
In an official statement, Metro Istanbul, the city’s metro operator, said select stations on the European side will be closed as of 3 p.m. local time (GMT+3) due to security precautions.

The affected lines are as follows:
- Taksim Station (M2 Yenikapi–Haciosman Metro Line)
- Sishane Station (M2 Yenikapi–Haciosman Metro Line)
- F1 Taksim–Kabatas Funicular Line
The Governor’s Office decision comes in response to a planned rally by Türkiye’s main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), which announced it would hold a march on Istiklal Avenue at 7 p.m. in support of Palestinians in Gaza following recent Israeli attacks.
