Kazakh President Tokayev receives TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmus
Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Speaker Numan Kurtulmus meets Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Astana to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation and strategic partnership
Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Speaker Numan Kurtulmus, during his official visit to Astana, Kazakhstan, was received by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
During their meeting at the Akorda Presidential Palace, Kurtulmus and Tokayev discussed strengthening cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international organizations and enhancing mutual solidarity among the member states of the Organization of Turkic States.
The meeting also addressed the expanded strategic partnership and bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Türkiye.
Kurtulmus highlighted that Kazakhstan is the homeland of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, a significant spiritual figure for the Turkish people. He mentioned that during his visit, he would attend a conference at Khoja Ahmed Yasawi International Kazakh-Turkish University in Turkistan city.
Kurtulmus noted that Kazakhstan, under Tokayev’s leadership, has entered a new phase of development, implementing successful political, economic and social reforms.
He believed these reforms would positively impact the country’s development.
Expressing confidence that cooperation between Türkiye and Kazakhstan will grow stronger in the future, Kurtulmus pointed out the significant potential in trade, technology, industry, logistics, energy, and agriculture.
President Tokayev expressed his appreciation for the potential of parliamentary diplomacy, emphasizing the importance of TBMM Speaker Kurtulmus’s visit to Kazakhstan.
Tokayev remarked that the meeting took place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the friendship and cooperation agreement between the two countries, highlighting its symbolic significance.
Recalling his recent phone conversation with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and their constant communication, Tokayev emphasized the well-developed dialogue between the two countries.
Noting that Türkiye is one of Kazakhstan’s top five trade partners and among the top ten investors in the country, Tokayev expressed confidence that bilateral trade volume would reach $10 billion.
Tokayev also stated his confidence that Turkish athletes and delegations would actively participate in the 5th World Nomad Games to be held in Astana in September this year.
The meeting was attended by Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Group Deputy Chairman and Manisa Deputy Erkan Akcay, TBMM Administrative Chief and Republican People’s Party (CHP) Artvin Deputy Ugur Bayraktutan, Türkiye-Kazakhstan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Chairman and Justice and Development Party (AK Party) sanliurfa Deputy Mehmet Ali Cevheri and Türkiye’s Ambassador to Astana Mustafa Kapucu.
