Speaking to Türkiye Today, Japanese sources denied the reports in the Turkish press, stating that Japan, which has recently been grappling with problems such as increasing asylum applications and illegal work, has stopped the visa application process for Turkish citizens.

According to Turkish media, which cited the “Embassy of Japan” website, Japan will start requiring visas for Turkish citizens on October 1, 2024.

The news also claimed that this decision was Japan’s precautionary measure against an increasing number of asylum applications and long-term illegal work in the country. Japanese diplomatic sources stressed that the news reports do not reflect the truth and that the claims are not true.
