Italy provides long-range missiles to Ukraine, says UK Defense Minister
Italy will supply Storm Shadow missile to Ukraine in response to a Russian invasion, says U.K. Defense Secretary Grant Shapps
U.K. Defense Minister Grant Shapps said that Italy has dispatched Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine, addressing the month-long suspicion about Italy’s supply of weaponry to Kyiv.
Assuming Storm Shadow to be an extraordinary weapon, Shapps said France, Italy and the U.K. had positioned these weapons for Crimea.
Meanwhile, an Italian Ministry of Defense spokesperson declined to provide further information on the subject. Despite opposition, the Italian parliament extended arms supplies to Ukraine from January through 2024.
Besides the Storm Shadow, Italy is also planning to send Stinger surface-to-air missiles, mortars, Milan or Panzerfaust anti-tank weapons, Browning heavy machine guns, MG light machine guns, improvised explosive devices, multiple launch rocket systems, PzH 2000 howitzers and vehicles to Ukraine.
