Italian Consulate General in Istanbul hosts a climate change panel where Ambassador Marrapodi stresses global action, praises Italy and Türkiye’s efforts
The Italian Consulate General in Istanbul hosted a panel on climate change on Monday.
Giorgio Marrapodi, Ambassador of Italy to Türkiye, delivered the opening speech at the event titled “Climate Change: A New Challenge for the Mediterranean,” emphasizing the urgent need for global action on this pressing issue.
Marrapodi highlighted the shared experiences of Italy and Türkiye as Mediterranean countries and emphasized the importance of joint efforts in the fight against climate change.
In his speech, Marrapodi praised the steps taken by Italy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the remarkable progress made by Türkiye in renewable energy.
He highlighted the potential for synergies between the two countries to make progress towards the common goals of reducing carbon emissions and minimizing environmental impacts.
Besides the panel discussion, the Mediterranean Green Week in Istanbul from May 14 to 16 promises to be an important gathering.
The event will provide a platform for stakeholders to address critical issues such as climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
This initiative underlines Italy and Türkiye’s shared commitment to address environmental challenges and promote sustainability in the Mediterranean region.
