Istanbul to launch 2,500 modern taxis with custom vinyl wrap designs
In Istanbul, 2,500 application-based commercial taxis are expected to hit the roads soon, and new design options are currently being finalized for these vehicles.
Rather than traditional paint, these taxis will feature vinyl wraps, and a public survey has been launched to choose the preferred design from five different options.
Key Details:
- Design choices: The taxis will predominantly feature white as the base color, with the designs applied using vinyl wraps on Fiat Egea vehicles.
- Survey for final decision: Istanbul’s Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) has opened a public survey to allow citizens to select the final design.
- Technical preparation: After finalizing technical aspects such as infrastructure and operational regulations, the vehicles will undergo vinyl wrapping at IBB facilities before they begin passenger services.
- Design features: Notably, the vehicles will not feature traditional rooftop lights, as these taxis will not be picking up passengers directly from the street.
Once the designs are finalized based on the survey results, these taxis are expected to enter service, marking a significant step in Istanbul’s transportation innovation.
