Education in Istanbul has been suspended for one day on Wednesday, February 12, due to snowfall, Istanbul Governor Davut Gul announced.
In a statement, Governor Gul said, “Education and training in all educational institutions across Istanbul have been suspended for one day on Wednesday.”
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Governor Gul highlighted that the ongoing snowfall, along with cold temperatures, has severely impacted daily life. Citing meteorological data, he said the harsh weather conditions are expected to continue throughout the city.
“For this reason, all educational institutions in Istanbul will be closed for one day on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Additionally, public sector employees who are disabled, have chronic illnesses, or are pregnant will be granted administrative leave on Wednesday, February 12, 2025,” Gul stated.
The decision comes as the city prepares for challenging weather conditions.
