Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya reveales the ‘Narkocelik-17’ operations: 1 ton 23 kg of methamphetamine seized in Istanbul, 6 people arrested

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the successful outcome of the “Narkocelik-17” operations conducted by the Istanbul Police Department against drug traffickers. A significant seizure of 1 ton 23 kilograms of methamphetamine was reported, along with the arrest of 6 drug manufacturers, including 1 foreign national.

The operations, carried out under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and by the teams of the Istanbul Provincial Police Department Narcotics Crimes Branch, targeted multiple addresses and vehicles in Istanbul’s Kagithane and Beylikduzu districts, as well as in the Gudul and Golbasi districts of Ankara.

Minister Yerlikaya shared the details of the seized contraband, which included 808 kilograms of liquid and 60 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, along with 136 kilograms of acetone and various quantities of marijuana.

In one particular operation in Istanbul’s Avcılar district, 147.5 kilograms of liquid methamphetamine and 7.5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine were confiscated, along with an unlicensed pump-action shotgun and precision scales.

Expressing his gratitude to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and the police officers involved in the operations, Minister Yerlikaya commended their bravery and dedication. He emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking, asserting that those attempting to hinder their efforts would be met with decisive action.

Minister Yerlikaya’s announcement underscores the Turkish government’s determination to eliminate the scourge of drug trafficking and protect its citizens from the harmful effects of narcotics.
