The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office announced that it had requested the seizure of a construction company co-owned by Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu based on Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) reports.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office reported that Ekrem Imamoglu’s company, Imamoglu Construction (Imamoglu Insaat), had been seized.

The official statement read, “Based on reports from MASAK (Financial Crimes Investigation Board), the company Imamoglu Insaat Ticaret ve Sanayi A.S., which Ekrem Imamoglu is a partner of, has been seized with the decision of the peace criminal court, upon the request of our Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.”

The seizure of the company comes as part of a larger investigation into various illegal activities allegedly linked to Imamoglu and dozens of others involved. The move highlights an extensive investigation with major implications for the city’s leadership.
