Israeli journalist Michael Anthony Ganoe detained in Istanbul over provocation in Imamoglu protests

An Israeli journalist, Michael Anthony Ganoe, was detained in Istanbul on charges of inciting hatred and hostility during protests that took place after former Istanbul mayor Ekrem Imamoglu’s detention on March 19.
Authorities stated that Ganoe, known for his anti-Islamic sentiments, participated in provocative broadcasts following the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu. Many Turkish outlets called Michael Anthony Ganoe a ‘zionist provocator’ following his video.

Ganoe, who arrived in Istanbul on March 20, reportedly encouraged demonstrations in support of Imamoglu through videos shared on social media.
Michael Anthony Ganoe will soon be deported
Officials claimed his actions violated laws against inciting public unrest. Ganoe has been charged and will be deported following legal procedures, according to authorities.
The arrest coincides with protests sparked by Imamoglu’s detention in a corruption and terrorism investigation. Demonstrations in Istanbul have resulted in clashes between protesters and police, leaving 123 officers injured and leading to over 1,000 arrests, including individuals with alleged links to various criminal activities and terrorist organizations.

Ganoe, a resident of Israel for 13 years and self-described Evangelical Christian, has been accused of promoting anti-Islam rhetoric in his broadcasts and activities. He is also known for his role in supporting Israeli soldiers through his organization, “Insight to Israel.”
