Interpol’s red notice fugitive arrested in Fethiye for human trafficking

A foreign national wanted by Interpol for human trafficking was apprehended by Turkish police in the coastal town of Fethiye, located in Mugla province.

The suspect, identified as a citizen of Uzbekistan, had been on the run under a red notice issued by Interpol for his involvement in prostitution-related human trafficking activities.

Coordinated operation leads to arrest

According to the Mugla Provincial Police Department, the suspect was located in Fethiye after extensive intelligence work by local law enforcement. A coordinated operation between the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch and the Intelligence Branch led to his arrest.

The suspect, who was banned from entering Türkiye, was detained following the operation and taken into custody.

After completing his processing at the police station, he was transferred to the Mugla Provincial Directorate of Migration Management’s Removal Center.

Red notice from Interpol and international collaboration

Interpol‘s red notice had been in effect for the suspect, who was accused of facilitating human trafficking for sexual exploitation. Authorities in Mugla confirmed that the individual was wanted by international law enforcement agencies and had been sought for crimes across multiple countries.

The suspect is now facing legal proceedings under Turkish immigration and criminal law. As per the protocols for foreign nationals involved in human trafficking cases, he will be held at the removal center pending further investigation and deportation processes.
