Interpol-wanted suspected Daesh member arrested in Istanbul, Türkiye
A suspect linked to the terrorist organization Daesh, identified as B.E., was apprehended in Istanbul following an international search warrant issued by Interpol.
The General Directorate of Security received an official notice from Interpol on December 16, citing intelligence from the Chechen Police Department.
According to the notice, B.E. was accused of forcibly entering a residence with armed accomplices, stealing 400,000 ($4000.86) rubles along with several valuables.
The suspect was also reported to have joined the Daesh terrorist group and was believed to be in Türkiye. Additionally, authorities suspect B.E. of being part of a network engaged in espionage activities.
Coordinated operation leads to arrest in Istanbul
After the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued a detention order, counterterrorism units launched an operation.
Early in the morning, law enforcement officials located and detained the Chechen national suspect in Istanbul‘s Basaksehir district. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the suspect’s activities, and further details are expected to be disclosed as the legal process unfolds.
