Indonesian president calls on Türkiye to join Jakarta in shaping ‘new global order’

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Thursday called for greater cooperation between Türkiye and Indonesia to “take responsibility for creating a new global order,” during a joint news conference with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.
“As leaders of the Global South and strategic partners, we need to take responsibility for creating a new global order,” Prabowo stated.
He thanked Türkiye and Erdogan for the warm welcome, expressing his desire for increased collaboration between the two nations. Prabowo’s official visit to Türkiye began on Wednesday.
Highlighting the shared history and vision between the two countries, Prabowo emphasized that both Türkiye and Indonesia aim to be “a positive force in the Islamic world.” On global geopolitics, he stressed that the two nations should work together to maintain global peace and stability.

Cooperation in culture, disaster management, media
On the sidelines of the visit, Türkiye and Indonesia signed three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on cooperation in media, culture, and disaster management.
The signing ceremony, which took place in Ankara, was attended by both President Erdogan and President Prabowo. The agreements include two MoUs focusing on disaster and emergency management, signed between the Turkish disaster agency AFAD and the Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency.
Another agreement covers cooperation in media, public relations, and communication between Türkiye’s Communications Directorate and Indonesia’s Presidential Communications Office.

Additionally, a cultural cooperation agreement was signed between Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Indonesia’s Ministry of Culture.
Prabowo expressed his willingness to deepen cooperation with Türkiye in several fields, including economy, health, construction, energy, defense industry, and culture.
Earlier in the day, Prabowo addressed the Turkish parliament, extending his support to Türkiye in its pursuit of justice in a world “full of uncertainties.”
Prabowo will also attend the three-day Antalya Diplomacy Forum in the Turkish resort city of Antalya, which begins on Friday.
