Hungary, assuming the EU Presidency, has placed Türkiye at the forefront of its six-month program, emphasizing the enhancement of strategic relations.

Inspired by former U.S. President Donald Trump’s slogan “Make Europe Great Again,” Hungary’s agenda underscores Türkiye’s pivotal role as an essential partner for the EU.

Key areas highlighted include energy security, regional stability and combating illegal migration.

The program commits to injecting new momentum into strategic cooperation, advancing political dialogue on Türkiye’s EU candidate status, and supporting recommendations from EU High Representative Josep Borrell and the European Commission.

Hungary aims to facilitate the resumption of Association Council meetings and high-level dialogues, addressing issues that have previously stalled progress.

Furthermore, Hungary stresses the importance of renewed negotiations for a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus issue, recognizing potential benefits for EU-Türkiye cooperation.
