Here are Istanbul’s districts with highest crime rates
Istanbul’s crime statistics for the year have been unveiled, shedding light on the districts with the highest and lowest crime rates.
According to data compiled by journalist Emrullah Erdinc, Esenyurt has emerged as the district with the most recorded crimes.
Esenyurt tops list
Esenyurt recorded a staggering total of 22,092 crimes, making it the clear leader in Istanbul’s crime statistics.
Fatih followed as the second-highest district with 16,283 crimes, while Kucukcekmece came in third with 14,977 reported offenses.
Pendik, Kadikoy and Umraniye also rank high
Pendik took fourth place with 13,863 crimes, followed by Kadikoy with 12,787, and Umraniye with 11,759.
Other high-ranking districts include Gaziosmanpasa in seventh place (11,332 crimes) and Bagcilar in eighth place (11,084 crimes).
Beyoglu makes top 10
Slightly lower on the list, Sisli ranked ninth with 10,910 crimes, while Beyoglu rounded out the top ten with 10,762 crimes recorded this year.
Adalar declared safest district
At the opposite end of the spectrum, Adalar (Princes’ Islands constitute the municipality and district of Adalar) was recognized as the safest district in Istanbul.
Only 403 crimes were recorded in this island district over the past year. Sile followed as the second-safest, with 1,296 crimes reported.
These findings provide a comprehensive view of crime distribution across Istanbul, highlighting areas that may require heightened security measures and others that serve as examples of low-crime environments.
