Havelsan, which has developed numerous software-based products in its 42 years within the Turkish defense industry, continues to achieve export successes with solutions provided to security forces.

The company recently showcased its competencies at international fairs and exercises, the latest being NATO’s largest digital interoperability exercise, CWIX 2024, held at the NATO Joint Force Training Centre in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

During CWIX 2024, Havelsan’s Kartal Command and Control Software and its link components successfully passed all assurance verification and validation (AV&V) tests required for NATO certification, despite this being their first participation.

Kartal and its components also successfully completed special tests confirming compliance with the NATO Federated Mission Networking (FMN) standards, earning NATO certification.

Havelsan supported the Air Force Information System’s testing and certification activities at CWIX 2024.

Kartal Command and Control Software, developed by Havelsan for the Air Force Command’s Control Alert Centers, is a critical software that provides real-time air picture generation, surveillance, weapon control and simulation functions.

Securing certifications at CWIX exercises is crucial, as it demonstrates the interoperability of a country’s command and control information systems with those of NATO and other countries, which is a significant prerequisite for participating in NATO missions.

Havelsan has actively participated in CWIX exercises since 2012, earning AV&V certifications for its products DOOB and KASIF in 2019, and Advent CMS and Advent Marti in 2023.

This year’s CWIX exercise, held from June 3 to June 21, 2024, saw participation from 42 countries, including NATO and the European Union, with over 480 systems and approximately 2,500 personnel across 18 areas of interest.

Havelsan participated with 25 personnel, showcasing six systems – KARTAL and its link components, Tactical Data Link Management Center TDLYM, Advent CMS, Advent Triton, Advent Marti – in the air, naval and tactical data link areas of interest.

New competitive solutions to be added

Havelsan General Manager Mehmet Akif Nacar commented on the two certificates earned at the CWIX 2023 exercise, stating: “It is gratifying to see that our proactive approach to meeting not only today’s but also tomorrow’s needs has been rewarded, as we successfully passed operational scenario-based and bilateral tests at NATO’s largest interoperability exercise.

This year, we also had the opportunity to conduct on-site inspections and coordination to actively participate with our solutions in the fields of cyber and modeling simulation starting next year.

We will continue to enhance our experience in creating systems that meet NATO standards, contributing to the Turkish Armed Forces, and producing competitive solutions internationally with the new certifications we have received.”
