Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis Monday has made provocative statements that undermine the normalization efforts between Ankara and Athens.

Türkiye’s messages from the island continue to resonate in Greece on the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.

On a recent television program, Georgiadis made a controversial remark, stating: “We can come to Ankara suddenly one night with F-35s.”

Georgiadis criticized Prime Minister Mitsotakis, claiming that Greece’s alliances with the U.S. and France during the Eastern Mediterranean crisis of the summer of 2020 were counter to Türkiye.

He also disparaged Türkiye’s aviation industry, calling the country a failure.

In response, President Erdogan criticized Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias during a statement on July 20 in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Erdogan highlighted that despite Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ efforts for peace, Greek ministers are sabotaging the peaceful environment.
