Future Party leader Davutoglu addresses AK Party return rumors
Ahmet Davutoglu, leader of Türkiye’s Future Party, has addressed swirling rumors about a potential return to the AK Party, dismissing them as baseless. In a recent statement, Davutoglu responded to these claims, saying, “I have no time for mythomaniacs,” and clarified that his relationship with the AK Party is not as distant as some might think.
Turkish politics has been abuzz with speculation that Future Party might reunite with the AK Party, especially following a confirmation from Mustafa Nedim Yamali, a prominent figure within Future Party. Yamali acknowledged ongoing discussions about the possibility, which were reportedly initiated under Davutoglu’s direction.
Davutoglu dismissed the rumors as repetitive falsehoods, labeling the claims as “mythomania,” a term used to describe individuals who compulsively lie without social or personal gain. He asserted, “We are not going anywhere; we will continue on our path,” while also stating, “AK Party is not distant from me at all. I see the unease among the broad conservative base, and I will do whatever is necessary.”
He pointed to significant disagreements with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as the reason for their split and noted ongoing discontent within the AK Party’s ranks.
