Bedirhan Sener, the son of former Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Abdullatif Sener, shot and killed his grandmother, Leyla Cetiner on Wednesday, after taking her hostage in their home. The incident occurred in the Ayranci neighborhood of Ankara.

A dispute between Bedirhan Sener and his grandmother escalated into a violent confrontation. Abdullatif Sener alerted police officers after the situation intensified.

Upon receiving the report, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Due to the severity of the situation, a special operations police unit was also sent to the location.

During the altercation, Bedirhan Sener shot and killed Leyla Cetiner. He was subsequently taken into custody by police. The investigation at the scene is ongoing.

Abdullatif Sener commented on the incident, saying, “My son, who has psychological issues, shot without even realizing the person in front of him was his grandmother. We are very saddened. It is a grave incident. The claims that my son killed his mother are not true.”
