Number of foreigners visiting Türkiye hit 7.3M in July
Türkiye saw a record-breaking influx of foreign visitors, with numbers increasing by 2.6% compared to 2023 in July.
The total number of foreign tourists reached 7.33 million, marking the highest monthly figure ever recorded.
First 7 months of 2024: A steady growth in tourism
From January to July 2024, the total number of foreign visitors to Türkiye rose by 8.27% compared to the same period last year, reaching nearly 29 million. The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism released these statistics, highlighting a robust recovery in the tourism sector.
In July, 35.5% of foreign visitors traveled to Antalya, followed by 25.98% to Istanbul, 10.95% to Edirne, 9.53% to Muğla, and 4.12% to Izmir.
Over the first seven months, Istanbul attracted 36.12% of foreign tourists, while Antalya followed with 29.30%. Other notable destinations included Edirne (9.85%), Muğla (6.66%), and Artvin (3.21%).
Germany topped the list of countries sending the most visitors to Türkiye in July, with 1.035 million tourists. Russia and the United Kingdom followed in second and third place, respectively, with Poland and Iran also ranking among the top five.
7-month overview: Russia takes lead
During the first seven months of 2024, Russia sent the most tourists to Türkiye, totaling 3.611 million visitors.
Germany was a close second with 3.502 million, and the United Kingdom ranked third with 2.434 million. Iran and Bulgaria secured the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
