The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement on X, condemning what it describes as “genocidal” actions by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government against Palestinian civilians, directly implicating Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz in the process.

In a tweet posted on Friday, the ministry shared a series of graphic images depicting casualties and grieving individuals in Gaza or other Palestinian territories. Notably, the tweet tagged @Israel_katz, the official account of Israel’s Foreign Minister.

The ministry’s statement, translated from Turkish, reads: “Examples from genocidal Netanyahu, and red-handed member of his government, @Israel_katz, against innocent Palestinians…” The tweet continues, “We will continue to work to ensure that those responsible for this genocide receive the punishment they deserve.”

By tagging Israel Katz directly, Türkiye holds him personally accountable for the actions of the Israeli government. This unusual diplomatic move of calling out a foreign minister on social media highlights the severity of Türkiye’s stance on the issue.

The images shared in the tweet show people carrying bodies, mourning over shrouded figures, and scenes of distress, underscoring the human toll of the ongoing conflict.

The statement comes amid escalating tensions in the region, with Türkiye taking a firm stance against Israeli military operations. The use of such strong language, particularly the term “genocide,” coupled with the direct tagging of Israel’s top diplomat, indicates a significant escalation in diplomatic rhetoric from Ankara.

Türkiye’s position aligns with its historical support for Palestinian causes and reflects broader international concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the West Bank.
