On Wednesday, 3 European countries announced their decision to recognize Palestine as a state. Official recognition of Palestine as a state by Norway, Ireland and Spain will take effect on May 28, 2024.
Israeli military aggression in the Gaza Strip, which began on October 7, 2023, resulted in devastating consequences. The ongoing conflict, with airstrikes and ground operations, has resulted in a staggering loss of Palestinian lives, with more than 35,600 people killed. The majority of the casualties were civilians, including women and children, underscoring the deep humanitarian crisis in the region.
Despite calls from the international community for an immediate cease-fire, the violence persists, underscoring the urgent need for a diplomatic resolution to end the bloodshed and restore peace to the region.
