Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to visit Qatar on April 27

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will visit Qatar on Sunday, diplomatic sources said, as Türkiye and Qatar continue efforts to deepen bilateral ties and coordinate on regional issues.
Fidan’s visit on April 27 follows his earlier trip to Qatar on Feb. 2–3 and the subsequent visit of Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to Türkiye for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation–Arab League (OIC-AL) Gaza Contact Group meeting hosted in Antalya on April 11.

Türkiye, Qatar strengthen strategic partnership
Türkiye and Qatar have maintained a strategic partnership since 2014, bolstered by high-level visits, regular consultations, and numerous bilateral agreements.
The High Strategic Committee, co-chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has convened annually since 2015, alternating between the two countries.
The most recent meeting was held in Ankara on Nov. 14, 2024. The next meeting is expected to take place later this year in Doha. To date, the committee’s ten meetings have resulted in 107 agreements covering a wide range of cooperation areas.
Bilateral trade between Türkiye and Qatar also exceeded $1 billion in 2024, reflecting deepening economic ties.

Shared approach on regional issues
Türkiye and Qatar share similar positions on key regional issues, including the situations in Palestine and Syria.
The two countries continue close cooperation both bilaterally and through multilateral platforms such as the OIC-AL Gaza Contact Group, particularly in efforts to end Israeli attacks on Gaza and to promote regional peace and stability.
