In Riyadh, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan participated in a meeting convened by the Contact Group on Gaza, jointly formed by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League.
The Foreign Ministry confirmed Fidan’s attendance, highlighting the significance of the gathering aimed at addressing the Gaza situation.
During his visit to Riyadh, Fidan engaged in discussions with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, as well as separately meeting with Qatar’s Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
The Gaza Contact Group, comprising members from the OIC and the Arab League, convened to explore strategies to bolster the recognition of Palestine and exert pressure on Israel and its supporters. Diplomatic sources indicated the conclusion of the meeting, with participants also deliberating on forthcoming decisions to be made at the upcoming OIC Summit in Banjul, Gambia, scheduled for Saturday.
Established during a joint OIC-Arab League summit in Saudi Arabia last November, the contact group aims to facilitate efforts to end the Gaza conflict and promote enduring peace in the region.
