FM Fidan urges global action as Rafah border crossing remains closed, Gaza faces shortages
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan visited Egypt’s El Arish Port at the invitation of Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdulati Sunday.
‘Since May, no aid has been delivered to Gaza’
During his visit, he went to the Rafah Border Crossing and provided a dire update on the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
As of now, the Rafah Border Crossing is closed to traffic. The other side of the border is completely destroyed. Trucks are not getting through; they are being diverted to Kerem Shalom, where only about 25% of trucks are able to pass through. Since May, no aid has been delivered to Gaza
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan
Fidan also shared insights from his visit, emphasizing the challenges faced in delivering aid where he mentioned how, along with his delegation, witnessed the process of delivery of aid into the besieged Gaza Strip.
At Rafah, our colleagues briefed us on their efforts. The border crossing is currently closed, and the destruction on the other side is complete. Therefore, trucks are being diverted to Kerem Shalom, where only about 25% manage to get through.

‘We have done everything in our power’
Minister Fidan made a passionate plea for international intervention to stop the ongoing violence, saying that it is of paramount importance to stop the ongoing atrocities in Gaza
If we do not collectively stop this massacre here, we will all be complicit in this atrocity as humanity. As Türkiye, we have done everything in our power since the first days of the crisis. Our brothers here tell us that Türkiye ranks first among the countries providing aid
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan
The minister highlighted the severe shortages and the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza.
There is no medicine, food, or water. Our Palestinian brothers are fighting hunger. If we do not stop this massacre together, we will be partners in this atrocity as humanity. Therefore, we must strive to provide all the aid we can and increase the pressure.
Minister Fidan underscored the urgency of the situation, urging global action. He highlighted how two million people have been displaced with 40,000 women and children brutally killed.
Just a few hundred meters from where we stand, a human tragedy is unfolding, a genocide is being committed. Currently, there is no medicine or water, and our Palestinian brothers are fighting hunger. If we do not stop this massacre together, we will be partners in this atrocity as humanity.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan
FM Fidan concluded by saying that it is of dire importance to provide all the aid to increase pressure on the decision-makers so Israeli atrocities come to a halt.
