Factory explosion in Türkiye’s Sakarya injures 20
An explosion occurred at a pasta factory in the Hendek district of Sakarya, sparking a major fire and injuring at least 20 people, according to initial reports.
The explosion took place near the Anadolu Highway Hendek toll booth at approximately 13:20 on Monday, though the cause of the blast remains undetermined.
Following the explosion, a fire quickly spread throughout the facility.
Firefighters and emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene, where efforts to bring the fire under control continued.
Injuries, evacuations
According to the Anadolu Agency (AA), 20 individuals have been injured and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Emergency personnel are still at the site, assisting with evacuations and treating the injured. No fatalities have been reported at this time.
Thick smoke visible across district
The fire has caused thick plumes of smoke to rise into the sky, which can be seen from various parts of the Hendek district. Local authorities have urged residents to avoid the area while firefighters work to contain the blaze.
