Fuel tanker blast caused by welding work in Istanbul’s Atasehir district results in 4 injuries

A fuel tanker explosion in Istanbul’s Atasehir district has left four people injured, two of them seriously, authorities said. The incident occurred at a rest stop on Samandira Street in the Ferhatpasa neighborhood.

The Istanbul Governor’s Office announced that the explosion happened while welding was being performed on the tanker.

A fire broke out following the blast, further complicating the emergency response. The injured were promptly attended to by health and fire services dispatched to the scene.

“Two of the injured are in serious condition,” the Governor’s Office stated, confirming the total number of casualties.

The statement also mentioned that teams from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) are actively working at the site to control the situation.

The exact cause of the explosion is still under investigation, and further details are expected as rescue and emergency efforts continue.

The authorities have not yet released information about the identity of the injured.
