Erdogan urges focus on main issues at AK Party meeting
President Erdogan expresses dissatisfaction during a meeting with AK Party provincial chairpersons, urging them to focus on main points rather than frivolous requests
President and Chairman of the ruling AK Party Recep Tayyip Erdogan voiced dissatisfaction during yesterday’s meeting with provincial chairpersons of the AK Party, admonishing individuals who approached him with requests, saying, ” You are not working.”
Stressing the necessity to eschew extravagance and concentrate on main points, Erdogan raised concerns over recent electoral setbacks in Yozgat and Sanliurfa, attributing them to lapses in candidate selection.
Erdogan laments electoral losses
Addressing provincial chairpersons advocating for infrastructure investments such as high-speed trains and railway lines, Erdogan underscored the ongoing investments in major cities while cautioning against futile endeavors and criticizing the provincial presidents, who asked a train line to a district of Eskişehir.
“We made the biggest high-speed train investments in Istanbul, Ankara and Eskişehir. These things do not happen just by making investments, you are not working,” he said.
He lamented the electoral setbacks in Corum despite significant voter turnout, citing a failure to effectively communicate the government’s investment impact.
“Çorum campaign rally was very crowded but we lost votes, we lost districts. You cannot explain the investments we made,” he stated.
Erdogan also highlighted the imperative to rectify past errors in candidate selection, acknowledging electoral losses in specific provinces due to misjudged choices.
In a separate development, Erdogan lauded the mayor and provincial chairman of Karabuk for their electoral triumphs, urging collaboration with relevant ministries for future initiatives.
Deputy General Chairman of AK Party Yusuf Ziya Yilmaz echoed Erdogan’s sentiments, urging officials to prioritize diligence over ostentation and stressing the importance of unwavering commitment to the cause.
