President Erdogan announces around 4000 earthquake housing units are under construction while initiating a lottery draw for 1314 disaster housing units
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a ceremony at the Harran University of Sanliurfa, broke the news on Wednesday that approximately 4000 earthquake housing units are under construction while a lottery draw for 1314 disaster housing units was initiated.
In his speech, after the letter was drawn with the presence of the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Ozhaseki, President Erdogan recalled his recent visit to the earthquake zone on the anniversary of Türkiye’s devastating and deadly earthquakes, whereby he strengthened solidarity with Turkish residents who suffered from the earthquake. He mentioned the fact that the governments successfully building houses for disaster victims, whose keys were given to deserving recipients.
The previous weekend’s events, which included the official opening of Gaziantep City Hospital, the largest hospital in the region, the lottery for 7,725 earthquake housing units, and the dedication of two major medical facilities in Hatay, were also mentioned by President Erdogan.
When speaking about the ongoing efforts in the areas hit by the earthquake, President Erdogan emphasized the importance of their constant attention to the area, saying “We will complete these units as soon as possible and gradually deliver them to the rightful beneficiaries.” He also highlighted the drastic measures they are putting in place to ensure that the rehabilitation process goes well in every location.
