President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed condolences and well-wishes on Sunday to the congregation in the aftermath of the attack on the Santa Maria Italian Church in the Sariyer district.
Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun confirmed that President Erdogan engaged in phone conversations with Sariyer District Governor Omer Kalayli, Santa Maria Italian Church Priest Anton Bulai, and Poland’s Consul General in Istanbul, Witold Lesniak, addressing the incident.
In a statement on his social media account, Altun stated, “President Erdogan conveyed his condolences and well-wishes to the entire congregation, emphasizing that necessary steps are being taken to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators.”
Altun also shared a video of President Erdogan’s phone calls. In the video, Erdogan extended his condolences to Santa Maria Italian Church Priest Anton Bulai, stating, “Currently, our law enforcement is fully mobilized with all available resources. I believe that the culprits will be apprehended shortly.”
Authorities are actively investigating the attack on the Santa Maria Italian Church, and President Erdogan assured that every effort is being made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
