President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned Israel’s recent military actions in Lebanon, calling for global intervention on Saturday.

Erdogan expressed his deep concern over the situation, stating that Israel’s military policies, which he described as “genocide, occupation and invasion.”

Lebanon and the Lebanese people are the new targets of Israel’s policy of genocide, occupation and invasion that has been continuing since Oct.7,” he said.

Erdogan said in a statement posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Loss of lives in Lebanon

The Turkish president specifically highlighted the loss of Lebanese lives, including children, in what he described as “brutal attacks.”

He expressed condolences to the families affected and wished a quick recovery to those injured in the ongoing violence.

“As a result of Israel’s brutal attacks, many Lebanese, including children, have been murdered in the last week. No one with a conscience can accept, excuse or justify such a massacre.” Erdogan said.

International community criticism

Erdogan also criticized the international community, accusing Israel‘s backers of providing weapons and ammunition that enable the country to act “recklessly” and “defy all humanity, humanitarian values, and international law.”

“The Israeli government is becoming more and more reckless as it is pampered by the powers that provide arms and ammunition for its massacres; it is defying all humanity, human values ​​and international law,” he said.

“Israel’s attempts to spread the insane politics it has implemented in Gaza and Ramallah to Lebanon and other countries in the region must now be stopped,” Erdogan added.

Call for global action

Erdogan urged global organizations, particularly the U.N. Security Council and international human rights groups, to take swift action against Israel’s military actions.

He also called on the Islamic world to adopt a stronger stance against the attacks on Lebanon.

“No person of conscience can accept, justify, or deem such a massacre legitimate,” Erdogan said, reiterating Türkiye’s support for the Lebanese people during what he described as “difficult times.”

We call on all structures whose duty is to ensure global peace, stability and security, especially the United Nations Security Council, and all human rights organizations to take swift action.

We believe that the Islamic world must take a more determined stance against these attacks.

As Türkiye, we will continue to stand by the Lebanese people and government in these difficult days. I once again condemn Israel’s inhumane attacks against Lebanon; I wish Allah’s mercy upon all our Lebanese brothers who lost their lives in the attacks and a speedy recovery to the wounded.

Türkiye’s support for Lebanon

Reaffirming Türkiye’s stance, Erdogan said that as a nation: “We will continue to stand by the Lebanese people and government in these difficult days.”

Recently Türkiye has sent humanitarian aid to Lebanon.
