Israeli plane makes emergency landing in Antalya due to passenger feeling unwell
An Israeli passenger plane operated by El Al Airlines, flying from Polish capital Warsaw to Israel’s Tel Aviv, made an emergency landing at Antalya Airport due to a passenger falling ill onboard.
Initial reports circulating in Israeli media had suggested the plane was denied refueling and diverted to Rhodes, but diplomatic sources have refuted the claims.
Medical emergency
According to diplomatic sources, the emergency landing at Antalya Airport was authorized solely due to a medical emergency involving a passenger.
While there were initial considerations for humanitarian refueling of the aircraft, the decision was made by the captain to depart before refueling could be completed, say diplomatic sources.
No commercial ties with Israel
Meanwhile, amidst ongoing conflict in Gaza, Türkiye has suspended all commercial relations with Israel. The suspension had come after a social media claim alleging that “Israel’s jet fuels come from Türkiye,” a theory strongly denied by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“We will never forget those who falsely accused Türkiye regarding jet fuel claims, despite knowing the truth,” Erdogan had said.
