Dozens of cars explode after fire at chemical depot in Istanbul’s industrial zone

A fire broke out at a warehouse storing chemical substances in the Ikitelli Industrial Zone in Istanbul’s Basaksehir district.

The fire started for unknown reasons on Milas Street in the Ziya Gokalp neighborhood and quickly engulfed the building, producing thick smoke.

Firefighters, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

Flames spread to nearby parked vehicles, and loud explosions were heard.

Authorities took precautions to prevent the fire from reaching nearby areas, including a livestock market, a gas station and natural gas tanks.

Fire crews began evacuating the animals from the area.

Police moved citizens away from the scene due to the risk of explosions.

The fire also caused heavy traffic congestion in the area.
