Turkish warship TCG Kinaliada visits Hong Kong
The Ministry of National Defense announced that Türkiye’s domestically produced warship, TCG Kinaliada, is en route to Japan as part of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Japan. Between May 30 and June 1, 2024, the warship made a significant stop in Hong Kong, China.
According to the statement from the Ministry of National Defense: “As part of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Japan, TCG Kinaliada continued its voyage to Japan and visited Hong Kong, China, between May 30 and June 1.”
On May 30, a courtesy visit was conducted by Consul Gen. Sercan Evcin of Hong Kong, Military Attache Col. Kaan Gulerce in Beijing and the Commander of TCG Kinaliada to Deputy Chief of Staff Col. Liu Zhaohui of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Hong Kong Garrison.
During the port visit, presentations were made to the PLA Hong Kong Garrison’s personnel regarding the capabilities of TCG Kinaliada.
A reception hosted by the consul general in Hong Kong and the commander of TCG Kinaliada was attended by numerous guests, including Cui Jianchun, the commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in Hong Kong, Cheuk Wing-hing, deputy prime minister of Hong Kong, Howard Yam, the deputy minister of security in Hong Kong, foreign diplomatic representatives, and members of the press.
