Cybercrime operations across 27 provinces in Türkiye lead to 237 detentions

A total of 237 suspects have been detained in cybercrime operations conducted across 27 provinces in Türkiye between March 19 and 27, according to a statement released by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.
Of those detained, 118 were formally arrested, while 34 were placed under judicial control, and legal proceedings for the remaining individuals are underway.
Interior ministry coordinates joint police and gendarmerie action
The operations were carried out under the coordination of the Cybercrime Units of both the General Directorate of Security and the Gendarmerie General Command, in collaboration with local police and gendarmerie departments.
The investigation focuses on suspects involved in
- Qualified fraud through information systems
- Illegal online betting
- Online child sexual exploitation
- Qualified theft
Minister Yerlikaya shared the results via his social media account, underscoring the national scope and coordination of the initiative.
Digital equipment seized during operations
Authorities also seized a substantial amount of digital materials, including mobile phones and computers, as part of the investigations.
Yerlikaya praised the efforts of provincial governors, public prosecutors, police, and gendarmerie forces involved in the operations.
He emphasized the government’s continued commitment to combating cybercrime, saying, “Our virtual patrols are on duty 24/7 in Cyber Homeland. Our fight against cybercrimes continues without interruption.”
