German, US, Dutch, British, and EU diplomatic missions express condolences for tragic fire in Istanbul offering sympathy and solidarity with Türkiye, as death toll reaches 29

Diplomatic missions in Türkiye extended their condolences for the tragic fire that claimed the lives of 29 people in Istanbul’s Besiktas district.

In a social media post by the German Embassy in Ankara, deep sorrow was expressed for the fire, with condolences extended to the families of the deceased and wishes for swift recovery to the injured.

Similarly, the U.S. Consulate General in Istanbul expressed sadness over the loss of lives in the fire, conveying condolences to the families of the victims and wishing speedy recovery to the injured.

The Netherlands Consulate in Istanbul shared their sorrow upon learning about the fire, offering condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and wishing recovery to the injured.

British Consul General in Istanbul, Kenan Poleo, also expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished for swift recovery to the injured.

The European Union Delegation to Türkiye also expressed deep sadness over the loss of lives in the fire, extending condolences to the families of the deceased and wishing swift recovery to the injured, while offering solidarity with Türkiye.

At least 29 dead, 13 injured in Istanbul 

The Istanbul Governorship announced Tuesday that at least 29 people lost their lives and 13 others were injured, seven of them seriously, in a fire that broke out in an entertainment center located in a 16-story building in Besiktas province of Istanbul. The fire broke out for unknown reasons in a building on Gundogdu Street on Gayrettepe Yildiz Posta Avenue.

President Erdogan contacted Interior Minister Yerlikaya by phone to inquire about the fire. 

Interior Minister Yerlikaya announced the initiation of an investigation into the fire, expressing condolences to the families of the deceased and wishing speedy recovery to the injured, promising to keep the public informed about the developments.
