Istanbul authorities have announced major road closures in the city because of a large-scale rally scheduled to take place in Maltepe on Saturday, March 29, 2025. Traffic restrictions will be implemented from 7:00 a.m. onward and will remain in place until the event concludes.

Main roads to be closed

According to the Istanbul Governor’s Office, Turgut Ozal Boulevard (Maltepe-Kartal Coastal Road) will be closed to traffic.

The closure will extend from the area in front of Kucukyali Maltepe Wedding Hall to the Kartal Canakkale Street intersection, including all connecting streets.

Alternative routes recommended

To ease congestion, officials have advised drivers to use the D-100 highway and Maltepe’s Bagdat Avenue as alternative routes.

Security measures, public transport advisory

Authorities have warned of potential traffic congestion in the area and are implementing heightened security measures. Commuters are strongly encouraged to use public transportation to avoid delays.

The Istanbul Governor’s Office emphasized that restrictions are necessary to ensure public safety and the smooth running of the rally.
