Communications Director Fahrettin Altun condemns Israel’s attack on humanitarian aid workers in Gaza, emphasizing the urgent need for accountability and access to vital assistance

Communications Director Fahrettin Altun strongly criticized Israel for the killing of aid workers from the U.S.-based charity World Central Kitchen (WCK) in Gaza, calling for accountability.

“Israel continues its genocidal acts and violates international humanitarian law while the world fails to protect innocent Palestinians,” Altun stated.

He condemned the recent attack that killed international aid workers who were working to alleviate suffering in Gaza, offering condolences to the families of the WCK workers.

Altun emphasized the need to end the “grave” human rights violations that have occurred.

“Israel must be held accountable for its war crimes,” he insisted.

Altun highlighted the urgent need for humanitarian aid access to Gaza, mainly as food is being used as a weapon of war.

He praised the work of humanitarian workers, noting their resilience in the face of Israel’s actions.

World Central Kitchen confirmed that seven of its aid workers were killed in the Israeli strike in Gaza.

The workers were in marked vehicles and had coordinated their movements with the Israeli army.

“This is not only an attack against WCK, but against humanitarian organizations providing aid in dire situations where food is weaponized. This is unacceptable,” said World Central Kitchen CEO Erin Gore.

The seven killed workers hailed from Australia, Poland, the United Kingdom, dual citizens of the U.S. and Canada and Palestine.

Israel’s military offensive in Gaza, which began after a cross-border attack by Hamas, has resulted in significant casualties and destruction.

Palestinians have faced injuries, deaths, and shortages of essentials.

The blockade on Gaza has further exacerbated the situation, with residents facing starvation.

The conflict has led to mass displacement and severe damage to infrastructure.
