Chinese media praises Türkiye’s fighter jet KAAN
A Chinese military newspaper recently featured an article about Türkiye’s fifth-generation fighter jet KAAN, highlighting the country’s achievement in joining the exclusive group of nations developing such advanced aircraft.
The article, titled “The Beginning and End of Türkiye’s Fifth-Generation Fighter Jet KAAN’s R&D,” noted that Türkiye became more efficient in developing its own fighter jet after being removed from the F-35 project.
The piece remarked that “U.S. sanctions motivated Türkiye” and provided insights into the development process of the national combat aircraft.
It emphasized the significant reduction in Türkiye’s defense industry’s foreign dependency, which has decreased from 80% in 2002 to 20% today, and affirmed that KAAN possesses all the features of a fifth-generation fighter jet.
The article also quoted President Erdogan, stating, “Türkiye has crossed another critical threshold in the production of fifth-generation fighter jets.” It concluded by noting that Türkiye’s inclusion in the “fifth-generation fighter jet club” is a source of pride for the Turkish people.
