The Presidential Cabinet is set to convene Tuesday under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Bestepe Presidential Complex, with an extensive agenda focusing on domestic and foreign policy.

‘Terror-free Türkiye’ initiative tops agenda

The meeting’s primary focus reportedly will be on advancing the terror-free Türkiye initiative.

The Cabinet is expected to review progress in the campaign against terrorism, including ongoing counterterrorism operations in northern Iraq and Syria. Discussions will also center on border security, regional cooperation and strategies to strengthen Türkiye’s security framework.

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli’s role in the terror-free Türkiye initiative process, particularly his collaboration with the Kurdish-oriented Peoples’ Equality and Democrat Party (DEM), will be examined as part of the broader efforts toward national unity and stability.

Focus on Gaza cease-fire and Türkiye’s diplomacy

The Cabinet will evaluate Türkiye’s diplomatic efforts following the cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

Officials expected to outline strategies to ensure the continuation of the truce and Ankara’s contributions to preventing further conflict in the region.

Discussions are also expected to address Türkiye’s role in mediating peace and its future diplomatic engagements with regional and global stakeholders.

Economic reforms and inflation control

Türkiye’s economic performance will feature prominently in the meeting.

Cabinet members will assess recent economic developments, efforts to combat inflation, and measures to improve citizens’ purchasing power.

Plans for upcoming reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy will also be reviewed.

Syria relations: A new chapter

Ankara’s recent diplomatic overtures to Damascus will be another critical topic.

The visit by senior Syrian officials, including Asaad al-Shaibani, the foreign minister of the new Syrian administration, Defense Minister Murhef Abu Qasr and Intelligence Chief Anas Khattab, has opened new avenues for cooperation on security, border management and regional issues.

The Cabinet will examine the outcomes of these talks and chart the next steps in rebuilding relations with Syria.

Relations with US and strategic outlook

As the U.S. transitions to a new administration under President-elect Donald Trump, the Cabinet will discuss Türkiye’s strategy for maintaining and strengthening bilateral ties.

Key issues will include counterterrorism efforts in northern Iraq and Syria, and how to align with the new U.S. foreign policy direction.
