Cabinet meeting to focus on Syria, terrorism, minimum wage
Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will preside over a Cabinet meeting at Bestepe on Dec. 9, at 3:00 PM.
The meeting will focus on critical domestic and international developments, with a particular emphasis on Syria, terrorism, and upcoming minimum wage discussions.
Syria: A central focus
The primary topic of the Cabinet meeting is expected to be the situation in Syria.
Following the fall of Damascus and the end of the 51-year Baath regime, Türkiye emphasizes its commitment to preserving Syria‘s territorial integrity and political unity. Officials will discuss strategies and a roadmap for Türkiye’s position amid evolving regional dynamics.
Terrorism and security concerns
The Cabinet will also review ongoing counter-terrorism operations in northern Syria and Iraq. Discussions will center around steps to address potential security threats posed by terrorist groups in the region, as well as Türkiye‘s approach to maintaining national security.
Minimum wage and new year adjustments
Economic issues, including the first meeting of the minimum wage commission scheduled for the following day, will also be on the agenda. Detailed evaluations on adjustments to the minimum wage for the new year are expected, along with considerations for salary increases for civil servants and retirees.
