CAATSA sanctions should be lifted, says Fuat Oktay
Fuat Oktay, chairman of the Turkish Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Commission, says that the CAATSA sanctions imposed by the U.S. on Türkiye should now be re-discussed and lifted
Oktay highlighted the necessity of reassessing and lifting the sanctions imposed on Ankara due to the “Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act” (CAATSA) because of Türkiye’s purchase of the S-400 air defense systems from Russia. He explicitly stated, “We have strongly emphasized the urgency of removing these CAATSA sanctions. At that time, the issue of mixing the S-400s with the F-35s led to numerous unrelated incidents.” He stated that Türkiye has made substantial advancements in domestic capabilities and expertise in this particular area in recent years.
