Bayraktar TB2 surpasses 1M flight hours, setting record for Türkiye’s UAV industry
The Bayraktar TB2, Türkiye’s domestically developed armed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 1 million flight hours, setting a new record for a Turkish-made drone.
This makes the Bayraktar TB2 the first national aircraft in Türkiye’s aviation history to achieve such a remarkable feat.
Since its introduction into service in 2014, Bayraktar TB2 has played a pivotal role in various military operations, securing its place as one of the world’s most recognized drones.
The UAV has traveled a distance equivalent to nearly 150 million kilometers – roughly the circumference of the Earth 3,742 times.
Key achievements of Bayraktar TB2 UAV
Bayraktar TB2 has not only become an essential part of Türkiye’s defense capabilities but also has positioned the country as a leader in the global UAV market.
With over 40,000 flight hours completed in various operations, the UAV has proven its reliability and adaptability across different environments and conditions. It has performed operations in regions such as Libya, Karabakh, and Ukraine, contributing to military successes in these conflict zones.
Baykar, the manufacturer of Bayraktar TB2, has become a global leader in the UAV industry, surpassing competitors from countries such as the United States, Israel, and China.
The company’s export success has positioned Türkiye to control 65% of the global UAV market share.
Exporting success: 1 million flight hours and counting
The Bayraktar TB2 has become the UAV of choice for many nations worldwide due to its advanced technology, cost-effectiveness, quick delivery times, and proven performance in combat zones.
As of now, Baykar has signed export agreements with 34 countries, including NATO and EU members, further solidifying its place in the global market.
The drone’s success has not been limited to military operations. Bayraktar TB2 has also been instrumental in humanitarian and environmental efforts, such as search and rescue missions following natural disasters and the monitoring of wildfires in Türkiye.
